It’s a huge week for Paula Kettering (Rosie Jones) in Casualty, as she attends the hearing to decide whether she can have her baby back.
Paula faces an intense court hearing
The day doesn’t start well when Paula has a fall after getting out of bed, after a night of nightmares about losing her first baby. She’s worried it’ll make a bad impression – after doing her best to turn her life around and stopping drinking, will the cut on her head make the judge think she can’t cope?
With Jan (Di Botcher) and Dylan (William Beck) by her side and Adi (Raj Bajaj) speaking up on her behalf, Paula faces a rather stern-seeming judge (Lucy Sheen). She gives an impassioned speech and the decision goes in her favour.
But that’s not the end of the story. She’s warned that she’ll be checked on regularly and if she has any lapses, Ena will be taken away again. As the realities of being on her own with a crying baby start to sink in, Paula finds herself under pressure. Trying to be independent she rejects help – but could her stubbornness and pride have devastating consequences for her and her baby?
Paula tells Dylan she doesn’t need his help anymore
Elsewhere, Marty (Shaheen Jafargholi) feels rejected by Adi when he turns up at Adi’s house a little bit drunk and in an amorous mood and is quite firmly sent packing.Marty confides in Robyn (Amanda Henderson) and says he’s scared Adi has gone off him, but further worries are to come.
When Adi’s pregnant friend Jessica (Maya Saroya) comes to the hospital after having some bleeding, Marty is shocked to discover that Adi is the father of the baby. Can Marty and Adi’s relationship survive?
Patient of the week is Jude (Sonny Charlton), who comes to the hospital in a bad way and suffering from the effects of drink and drugs. Marty does his best to offer friendship and support when it becomes clear that Jude is struggling with a lot of family issues – but will it be enough?
