What does the future hold for Paula and baby Ena?
Casualty will reveal the outcome of Paula Kettering's emotional story this weekend, as she continues to adjust to becoming a mum for the second time.
In scenes set to air this Saturday (April 9), Paula decides how to move forward with the latest chapter of her life, but not before nervously awaiting her court hearing.
On the morning of the hearing, Paula awakens from a nightmare, reliving the moment her first child, Maisie, was taken into care. Later, when Dylan Keogh visits, he finds her with a nasty cut to her head after she fell over in the night.
Dylan patches Paula up, but Paula is worried that her injury will count against her in her hearing.
Fortunately for Paula, the court decides to return baby Ena to her care, after the recovering alcoholic made an impassioned statement about her determination to stay sober.
Over the next week, Paula struggles to cope with the demands of motherhood, but ultimately refuses Dylan's offer of help.
When a social worker stops by the flat and finds fault in a number of things, Paula is disheartened. When Dylan checks in, he finds Ena in Paula's bed, and gently reminds his friend of the risk.
Paula lashes out at Dylan and demands that he leaves, but the next day she rushes to the Emergency Department when Ena falls ill with a temperature and rash.
Dylan is quick to reassure Paula that Ena's rash is a harmless reaction, and that she did the right thing by her daughter. When he tells her there's no way of being a perfect mum, Paula makes a decision about her future.
What will Paula do – and how will Dylan react? We'll find out soon enough.
